When a canoe approached distant shores, they greeted other tribes with a song. The song identified the visitors and was a sign of good intentions. There is also a time to sing for those that have passed on. Ksgoog'm Sim'oogit Ni'is Laganoos - a high-ranking Laxgibuu chief of the Gitlaan tribe, has recently passed. We would normally mourn for a year, abstaining from celebrations and formal gatherings our of respect for the dead. We push forward... yet we still honour those that have passed on to the other side. These will conclude the preliminary words before we begin our presentation proper. Dark times aside, we aim to make new stories for the generations to come.
